The earliest rivets were small pegs made of wood or bone, and the earliest metal deformation body may be the ancestor of the rivets we know. There is no doubt that they are the oldest method of metal connection known to mankind, which can be traced back to the original use of malleable metal. For example, in the Bronze Age, the Egyptians riveted and fastened the six wooden fan bodies on the outer line of the slotted wheel together, and the Greeks successfully cast large statues with bronze, and then riveted the parts together.
In 1916, when H. V. White of the British Aircraft Manufacturing Company first obtained the patent for blind rivets that can be riveted on one side, people hardly expected that such rivets would be used so widely. From aerospace to office machines, electronic products and sports equipment, it can be said that this blind rivet has become an effective and stable mechanical connection method. It is not very clear when the blind rivet was invented, but the harness was invented in the 9th or 10th century AD. The riveted harness, like the nailed horseshoe, liberated the slaves from the heavy labor. The rivet also led to many important inventions, such as the iron pliers used by the copper and iron workers and the shears of sheep's wool.
