What Is The Difference Between Gasket And Washer in Fastener?

1. The shape difference gasket is usually made of sheet materials, such as pad paper, rubber, silicone rubber, metal, cork, felt, neoprene, nitrile rubber, glass fiber or plastic polymer (such as polytetrafluoroethylene). The washer is usually used for distributing the load thread fastener, and the part between the connector and the nut is usually a flat metal ring.
2. The functional differential gasket is generally used to fill the irregular shape on the machined surface. It can also be placed between the two planes to strengthen the sealing, which is used as a sealing element between the static sealing surfaces to prevent fluid leakage. The washer is mainly used to increase the contact area, disperse the pressure, prevent the soft material from being crushed, protect the surface of the connected part from being scratched by the nut, disperse the pressure of the nut on the connected part, prevent the screw cap from loosening and falling off due to vibration and other reasons, and can also be used as a spacer.
3. According to its material and structural characteristics, the differential gaskets can be divided into nonmetallic gaskets, metallic gaskets and metal-nonmetallic composite gaskets. Each type can be subdivided into several types, which will not be listed here. Washers are mainly divided into flat washers, spring washers, lock washers, lock washers, etc.
